Sports Premium

Church Hill Sports premium spending and impact

Since March 2013 the government has provided extra funding to improve provision of physical education (PE) and sport in primary schools in England – The Primary PE & Sport Premium.

For the 2019 – 2020 school year, this premium is £17,780 and has enabled the school to provide a wealth of opportunities for our children – both as part of the curriculum and beyond. Details about the new Premium grant are below.

The four objectives of the Primary PE and Sport Premium funding are:

To increase participation levels in sport at recreational and competitive levels in order to promote healthy and active lifestyles that will be maintained into adolescence.

To improve the quality of existing PE teaching through continuing professional development in PE for generalists, so that all primary pupils improve their health, skills and physical literacy, whilst having broader exposure to a range of sports.

To increase the quality of initial teacher training in PE and sport, and to promote PE specialism in the primary sector.

To ensure schools understand and value the benefits of high quality PE and sport, including its use as a tool for whole school improvement.
